70. On Hold

We're trying to get our phone situation worked out so we don't rely on my brother or whoever happens to be nearby in order to contact someone. I am not entirely sure why, but this seems to inevitably involve spending a large amount of time on the phone, sitting on hold while whoever it is on the other end is  "checking something".

Some people relish sweet anticipation
and when they're forced to wait they never groan.
It's harder to delay gratification
when waiting means you're sitting on the phone.

Requests you've made are simple, so you think:
“I'd like to make a purchase, change a plan...”
But always there's a hitch, some sort of kink,
and then on hold you sit for quite a span.

“I'm sorry that I made you have to wait.”
And while apologetic he may sound,
I've been there; I know hold times just equate
to phone reps having time to mess around.

Without this guy our new phones won't arrive;
so I'll endure and put up with his jive.
